The orchard belonging to a private company in the district of Karasu began to be protected with a hail cannon called “hail repellent” developed against hail.

While “hail repellent” foretells the approaching hail clouds to the orchards, it also causes the hail to fall as rain with the wave it spreads.

Mehmet Ali Sırma, the agricultural engineer of the company, said that they bought this device to prevent hail in the company gardens.

Stating that they bought “hail repellent” to prevent hail damage, Sırma said:

“This device has been used in Turkey for about 5 years. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry supports the use of this device. The purpose of this device is to fight hail in agricultural areas. The hail damage that has occurred in recent years has reached its peak in our country and a lot of damage has occurred in our products. There is a lot of damage. This is a work to eliminate this damage. Many agricultural products are damaged due to disasters in our country and we want to prevent these losses. This is our aim.”

Sırma reported that the system works integrated with the weather radar and that the device signals full clouds.

Noting that the device allows the hailstones to fall to the ground in the form of rain, Sırma said:

“Technically, this does not have a structure like affecting the clouds or not raining. Acetylene gas only allows the hail to fall as rain. The mechanism of action is a device that works with a radius of 500 meters and addresses an area of ​​800 decares. With the increase in disasters, the agricultural sector and especially the Ministry of initiatives in our country. “People are looking for a solution because there are product losses and we have to feed our country. We have to produce quality products. Agricultural sectors definitely need to use these devices. Last year, we reached a loss of 80 percent in our 300-decare production area. This is a very big financial loss. Lost. We are currently protecting an area of ​​800 decares with this device. When we compare it financially with this device, it is about one-fifth of the money. Before the last Ramadan Feast, there was a huge hailstorm in Antalya. We had just bought this machine and this Thanks to the machine, we saved our products there. We saw that there was no hail in the machine’s area of ​​influence and that there was hail in other places, and now we bought the second one and installed it on our land in Sakarya Karasu.”

Sırma recommended that those with large lands and those living in villages get together and buy their products from this machine in order to protect them from hail.
